I was making coats for
Bootsy Collins back in the day through a great Hollywood Rock and Roll clothing store called Dynamite Boutique. It was owned by Yona Mizrachi. He carried only rock and roll clothing and stage costumes. Between Dynamite Boutique and Cognito Clothing
in Santa Cruz, Bootsy Collins ended up with about thirteen of my coats and jackets. They were resplendent with sequined spider webs, glitter paint and silver hardware. It was very eighties.
A side note about Yona. A few years ago I met Tushell the burlesque aficionado, expert corset maker and owner
Bad Attitude Boutique
She recognized my coat as the same one she had seen in Dynamite Boutique on Hollywood Blvd back in the eighties. We both waxed lyrical about him. He was/is a good business man with a kind and generous spirit. I was living the life of a starving artist and he kept me fed. So Yona, If you are reading this, Hugs, Kisses and a heartfelt Thanks!
